We met David Callan on our first trip to Nova Scotia when he graciously agreed to show us his own home that was on the market at the time.  I say graciously, because we let him know that we were not in a position to buy…in fact, we didn’t even know if we wanted to live in Nova Scotia, nor did we have Canadian residency.  However, we loved his home and the area and, when his neighbor’s house came on the market about a year later, he sent us the website showing the listing.  He remembered what had appealed to us and sent us his amazing website that made us feel as if we had actually visited the property.  Which, in fact we did.  And we purchased it.  I’ve never seen another realtor’s website that is as good as his and we’ve looked at many of them.

We arrived in Wolfville, knowing no one but our realtor and our lawyer, so I contacted David frequently, asking basic questions.  Upon apologizing for being a nuisance he assured me that he was “our realtor for life”!  Naturally, when it was time to list the property, he was our choice.  To say that he met our needs would be a huge understatement.  Before the realtor’s open house and before the complete listing hit the website, we had a signed contract.  Once again, David had his antenna up and knew who might be interested in the property.

Now it is three years later, David has moved to Ottawa, and we want to move back to Nova Scotia.  So each time we saw a property online, we checked with our “realtor for life” for his input.  He did a pretty good job of trying to talk us into Ontario, but we are heading back to Nova Scotia despite his best efforts! 

In addition to keeping the market and the customers in the forefront of his mind, David is also extremely efficient with all the details involved in making a sale.  Nothing was ever overlooked; nothing was done incorrectly and the settlements were flawless.  That’s what customers expect from an agent, but it’s not always what they get.  His cheerful manner and willingness to spend time with his customers made all our dealings with him a pleasure.  If we ever decide to move to Ottawa, you know whom we will seek out to be our realtor.

 It was soon clear that the task was a difficult one as there were very few homes on the market that fitted all my needs but David worked diligently to find listings and arrange viewings of places that might be suitable. In October, we finally found a townhouse in the exact location I wanted. Owing to his sound advice both on the amount to offer and subsequent negotiations, I was able to obtain the property at a reasonable price. David was later most helpful with my move and with unexpected ‘hurdles’ that the previous owner placed in my path. David also gave me needed information about Ottawa and the neighbourhood in which I was to live.

I would recommend David Callan as an agent to anyone thinking of selling or buying a home in Ottawa. Not only was he professional and energetic in his dealings with me but he proved to be a pleasant person with whom to work.
